I have heard a lot about Glogster and have never really seen it in action. My goal is to provide everyone with insight as to how to best use this program as a teaching tool. I want these posts to be helpful, so they are going to be specific and break down how to use this program.
I would like to start with explaining exactly what glogster is…
Wikipedia indicates that glogster provides people with an environment to design interactive posters. You can insert text, images, photos, audio, videos, and special effects into glogs to generate a multimedia online creation. These interactive posters can be shared with other people and can also be saved to computers.
What I have found as I have been playing around on this site is that this tool could be used for any subject. Take these two glogs for example. One could have been completed by a student in a computer class, another by a student in a history class.
Pretty awesome huh? These examples show exactly what the end result of a glog looks like. I am going to show you how to create them and then hopefully you will be able to show your students how to create them.
Learning this program was very easy. It did not take much time to learn how to work this program. All I had to do was fiddle around a bit and the more I played around, the more comfortable I became with using it. Also as I looked around on the site, I found so many other useful things that I could use in my teaching. Although I will definitely have my students create glogs to share their learning, I can also use glogs that are already created as resources to aid in my teaching. If you click on this link, you will see that there are thousands of glogs put into categories from sports to school to music to art. There are many glogs that relate to my personal interests and I am sure you would find many that you find interesting as well.
I hope that this introductory post interests you in this tool. I did not know much about it going in, but now that I have learned how great it is, I know it will be an asset to my teaching.

Thanks for sharing those examples. Example 1 is going into my diigo account with the tools. That one is going to help me learn how to use podcasts. Have you created a glog yet? I tried once and I could not save it anywhere and then lost it after my computer crashed (just froze up). I was only adding pictures but I was trying to get it done so that I could publish it. I ended up wasting a lot of time. If you figure out how to save throughout I am interested. I never realized the dynamics of glogster. I thought it was pretty basic posters.
Hey Karie, I am currently working on a glog as I am learning about glogster. It is a work in progress and I am going to present it when I teach about it in March. I have not tried to save it to the computer, but your experience scares me that this program might not be as useful as I thought it would be. I will definitely let you know if I figure out it how to save it.
